OUR APPROACH

(scroll down to see our programmes)

RAY OF HOPE FOUNDATION (ROHF) uses a community based approach (CBA) in addressing the challenges faced by orphans and vulnerable children (OVC). A special attention is paid to both prevention and treatment. Which means it will first address the status quo (treatment) and then establish a child welfare driven system  (prevention) . There shall community engagement in all the activities being done by ROHF. Following a community-based approach means RAY OF HOPE and its partners must not only provide relevant and individualized services in the community in which an OVC lives, but also must include community input in the administrative and policy-making work of building a system of care. RAY OF HOPE will assist in improving the lives of OVC but Keeping children within their own community and relying on the community for services and support, This has been part of good child welfare practice for decades. Local resources shall be used and external resources shall be used to supplement the community resources. It can be demonstrated in two ways

• Community as a resource for child outcome improvements.
•Community members as stakeholders in system improvement

ROHF aims to establish a child welfare driven system of care which focuses on establishing a stable and supportive community that assists with placement and case planning, encourages community members to guide families and staff in building a supportive community network, and actively engages the community in decision-making.

1. Placement and case planning

2. Family partners as community guides

3. Integrating the community into decision-making bodies
